Medication-Assisted Treatment for SUD
MAT for Substance Use Disorder
Explore How Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Can Help Fight Addiction
Opioid addiction is a serious problem in North America. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly a half-million people have died from an overdose involving an opioid from 1999 to 2018. If you or a loved one is struggling with addiction, you’re not alone in the fight. Healthcare professionals across the country have been working to develop new physical, chemical and psychological tools to help those people fight opioid addiction. One of those tools is medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and it’s available at CONQUER.

How Medication-Assisted Treatment Helps Combat Addiction
Medication-assisted treatment, commonly referred to as MAT, combats substance use disorders with a combination of behavioral therapy and medications. Some of the medications we leverage in the MAT process at CONQUER are Vivitrol®, suboxone and naltrexone.
The process of weaning off a substance can be extremely difficult and potentially dangerous. MAT helps reduce the withdrawal symptoms and can drastically lessen psychological cravings. When used in a safe environment, MAT has been shown to have no negative effects on physical functions, intelligence, mental capability or employability.
Medically Managed Help for Those Struggling with Opioid Addiction
CONQUER also recognizes that there should be different models or approaches to help you recover from opioid use. That’s why we have medically managed SUD treatment, a hybrid treatment model that utilizes our intensive outpatient (IOP) therapies with MAT services. When you or a loved one finally wants to overcome an opioid addiction, you can expect the following from the program:
- 4 to 6 months of treatment
- Detox and/or transition to buprenorphine or vivitrol
- Therapy sessions
- Psychiatry oversight and medication management
- Addictionologist/psychologist oversight
- Peer Support
